Funeral services to celebrate the life of Dr. Bill Lynn, 75, of Davenport, will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 22, 2022, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, downtown Davenport. The service will be livestreamed by visiting this page and clicking the link at the bottom. The link will appear 15 minutes before the service. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. Private family burial will take place in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. Bill was born September 28, 1946, son of Wayne and Connie (Davenport) Lynn. Bill was united in marriage to Arletta Leinweber on August 3, 1969, in Kansas City, Missouri. Survivors include his wife, Arletta; son, Kyle, both of Davenport; a brother-in-law, Russell (Stella) Leinweber, Mason City, Illinois; sister, Linda Bale (Hobson), Quincy, Illinois; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bill had a very busy life earning a degree in Chemistry from Blackburn College, Carlinville, Illinois, Masters in Economics from University of Missouri-Kansas City, and PhD from University of Illinois. Bill served as Assistant Professor at Florida Palm Beach Jr. College, Assistant Professor at Eastern Illinois University, Associate Professor at Marycrest College, and Professor at St. Ambrose University retiring in 2017. At Ambrose he specialized in teaching entrepreneurship, economics, and integrated business projects. Bill enjoyed consulting at Veterans Affairs, ISED, and the EPA, as well as individuals pursing small business startups. Bill served as a VISTA Volunteer along with his wife, Arletta, in Kansas City, Missouri, 1968-70. He served the citizens of Davenport’s 5th Ward as Alderman 2004-2012. Bill and Arletta also had Coffee, Tea, Etc. (Charleston, Illinois) and Lynn’s Christmas Peanut Brittle, partnered with Bill’s mother (Connie Lynn).
Bill’s loves in life were his wife, son, kitties, teaching, helping people and reading (in his free time).
