William “Bill” Lawson, 81, a resident of Panama City, Florida, died Sunday, March 31, 2019 in Florida. Graveside services will be Friday, April 19, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Please be at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home by 1:30 p.m. to go in procession to the National Cemetery.
William Edward Lawson was born on February 2, 1938 in Davenport, a son of John and Helen Lawson. He was united in marriage to Helen F. Hesse in May 1961 in Lost Nation, Iowa. They have shared almost 58 years of marriage and memories together.
Bill proudly served our country in the Air Force for over 26 years. He was a technical training instructor in avionic weapon delivery systems. He retired as a master sergeant in 1985. Then he went to work at Panama City Naval Station for 19 years, retiring in 2007.
Bill loved to golf and fish, and was an computer expert, helping to keep family and friends computers up and running.
Among survivors include his wife, Helen; son, Robert, and a grandson, Joey; siblings, John (Billie) Lawson, Linda Colfer, Danny (Carla) Lawson, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Judy Zismer.
