Funeral services celebrating the life of Wendall Agan, 83, of Davenport, will be held at 1 pm on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. The rite of cremation will follow. Visitation will be from 11 am until time of services. The celebration of his life will continue from 2-7 pm on Sunday at the Hickory Creek Event Center, 3504 Hickory Grove Rd, Davenport, IA 52806. Memorials may be made to the Scott County Humane Society.
Mr. Agan passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.
Wendall Elton Agan was born March 25, 1941, in Numa, IA, a son of Homer and Edith (Miller) Agan. He graduated from Seymour High School, class of 1959 and married his high school sweetheart Anna Butler, on June 4th, 1960.
Wendall had been a millwright and carpenter for 33 years when he retired in 1995. He had worked for Oscar Mayer and founded WRS Construction in 1980.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, camping (especially cutting and splitting wood and tending the fire), building cabins and houses, took pride in his yard, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a jokester, liked to sing, and the occasional beer.
Those left to honor his memory include his beloved wife of 64 years, Anna; children Sherry Agan-O’Neill, Rodney (Julie) Agan, Shawn (Cindy) Agan; all of Davenport; grandchildren Joseph (Matthew) O’Neill, Sara (Andy) Nystrom, Casondra (Tom) Hilboldt, Kayla (Austin) Fielder, Robert Agan, Mackenzie (Ai “AB”) Chandler, Aubrey Sennett, Jeremy Sennett and Cody Cheely; great grandchildren Madison, JJ, Nicholas, Lincoln, Morgan, Makynlee, Maverick, Clayton, Carter; great great grandson CJ; siblings Russell (Maxine) Agan of Davenport, IA, Danny Agan of Centerville, IA, Marietta (Mike) Gill of Mystic, IA, Marilyn (Mike) Bourland of Peoria, IL, Duane (Barb) Agan of Maryville, TN, Mike (Peggy) Agan of Brazil, IA, Olen (Buffy) Agan of Barstow, IL, Linda (Scott) Brown of Numa, IA, and Sheila (Jerry) Campbell-Malone of Boonville, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Clifford, Carl, Neal, Dallas
and fur baby “Bugs”.
