Funeral services to celebrate the life of Don “Wayne” Harrington, 67, of Davenport, will be 11a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2021 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. The family will greet friends from 10 until 11a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Masks and social distancing are required and services will be livestreamed by visiting Wayne’s obituary at www.hmdfuneralhome.com. Memorials may be made to Mt. Sinai C.O.G.I.C. Wayne died Monday, January 11, 2021 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Don Wayne Harrington was born August 26, 1953 in Meridian, Mississippi, a son of Wilbert and Callie (Bates) Harrington. He attended St. Ambrose College, majoring in Education with a minor in Business Management. He did student teaching at J B Young. While going to college, Wayne worked at WOC-TV as a cameraman/producer of a children’s show. Later, he was employed at John Deere in the logistics and shipping department until he medically retired.
Wayne loved serving the Lord. He enjoyed walking and talking with the Lord, and was always finding money on his walks. Wayne loved people. He enjoyed helping and serving others. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and making people laugh.
Wayne is survived by his Children: Shevivia Terez Clay, Marina, California; Chad Harrington, Kansas City, Missouri; Cynthia (Joseph Sr.) Johnson, Humboldt, Texas; and Courtlan (Desiree) Harrington, Blue Springs Missouri; Grandchildren: Maoz, Sophia, Katelynn, Joseph Jr., Zoie, and Gabriel; Siblings: Willie (Louise Grady) Harrington, Rock Island; Martha (Demettris Byrd) Pierre, Davenport; Dr. Nancy Flowers, Memphis, Tennessee; Beatrice (Roy) Houston, Rock Island; Sally (Gary) West, Davenport and nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, his parents, and siblings: Wilbert Harrington, Jr., Bobbie Harrington, Peggy Rucker, and Jane Johnson.
