Wayne J. “Wayne-O” Blumer, 79, of Davenport, died Thursday, October 11, 2018 peacefully at his residence after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family.
Per Wayne’s wish the rite of cremation has been accorded. The family invites you to join them in celebrating Wayne’s life Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from 3:00 until 7:00 pm at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1111 W. 35th Street, Davenport. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
The Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Wayne Jerome Blumer was born October 22, 1938 in Davenport, a son of Oswald and Cecilia (Micklewright) Blumer. He graduated from the St. Ambrose Academy in 1957.
He was united in marriage to Dorothy Frances Larsen, February 10, 1961, at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Davenport.
Wayne was a member of Operative Plasters’ and Cement Masons’ Union Local 18; he retired after many years of service and was a Field Representative at the time of his retirement.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time in his “Man Cave” along with weekend trips with Dorothy to Wisconsin.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Dorothy, daughters, Kimberli Blumer (Steve Bobbitt), and Angela (Joe) McDonough; a daughter-in-law, Linda Kerker Weiman, grandchildren, Hallie (Fred) Hansell, Hattie (Collin) Gillaspie, Trenton and Trey McDonough, and great grandchildren, Rowan, Kaetlyn, and Freddy Hansell; a sister, Patricia “Pat” (Joe) Goetsch; and good friends, Trent Larssen and Eric Dibbern.
He was preceded in death by his parents; seven siblings; and a son, Timothy Blumer.
