Wanda N. Fishburn

Wanda Fishburn, age 96 and longtime resident of Bettendorf passed away on June 25, 2022.  She was born in Silvis, Illinois to Lurance and Lura Chapin.  She graduated from Tipton, Iowa High School and was a graduate of Marycrest College in Davenport with a degree in Business Management.  She married Blaine Fishburn on September 3, 1949.

Wanda taught math at Our Lady of Lourdes School and then became a Realtor with Mel Foster for 50 years.  She was the recipient of the Bert Frahm Award for outstanding realtor of the year.

Wanda was an avid bridge player and a member of the American Contract Bridge League.  She attained her Gold Life Master designation in 1996.  In addition to bridge, Wanda enjoyed traveling and playing golf.  She had a hole in one at Olde Hickory Golf Club in Ft. Meyers, Florida in 2004 where she and Blaine wintered for many years.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband Blaine, son David and daughter-in-law Jill Fishburn, and her brother and sister.  She is survived by her daughters Sharon Keogh, Karen (Frank) Bonis, son Neil Fishburn, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

The family is having a private service.  Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Lourdes Catholic School or Assumption High School.
