Vui Hua

June 10, 1938 — December 11, 2024

Vui Hua, 86, of Davenport, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at his home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Visitation will take place from 4:00–8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Vui was born on June 10, 1938, in Vietnam, the son of Mr. Huynh Van Y and Ms. Truong Thi Thua. He was united in marriage with Bich Phan on November 26, 1968. Vui served in the South Vietnamese military while in Vietnam.

He was always full of energy and made the most of every day. Tending to his garden brought him the greatest joy—not only to provide fresh produce for his family but to share its bounty with those around him. He also had a gift with words, a true poet whose writing inspired and touched everyone fortunate enough to read it. Though his presence will be deeply missed, his words and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Bich; his children, Hanh Hua and family, Hung Hua and family, Vu Hua and his wife and family, Kim Anh Hua, and My Hua.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Hue Hua.
