Virgie White, 81, of Davenport passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023, at home with family.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00a Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Mt. Sinai Christian Fellowship C.O.G.I.C. There will be an one-hour visitation prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Oakdale Memorial Garden Davenport. Memorials may be made to the family.
Virgie Beatrice White, affectionately known as “Dollee,” was born August 20th, 1941, in Oakland, Tennessee, to the late Louis and Alice Granderson. She departed this life, Thursday morning, August 10th, 2023.
She accepted Christ at an early age. While residing in Davenport, Iowa, she attended many churches but found a church home at Mt. Sinai Christian Fellowship C.O.G.I.C.
Virgie was a graduate of Fayette Ware Training School. After graduation, she relocated to the Midwest where she resided in Indiana, Illinois, and Iowa, where she was united in matrimony to Charles White in 1989. Virgie became an entrepreneur in 2002 when she established Globetrotters Transportation and Homemaking Service. She retired in 2016.
Virgie was the youngest of thirteen children. She loved her siblings dearly who all preceded her in death: Ludy, John Lee, Ruthie, Blanche, James, Rochester, Joel L., G.W., Marvell, McKinley, Mattie, and Odessa.
She was also preceded in death by her eldest son, Soevier Burnell Granderson and best friend Helen Hunt
Virgie leaves to cherish her memory four children: George and Bruce both of Davenport, IA; Mary Ann (Lonnie), Moline, IL; Booker, Orlando, FL; and stepdaughter Latisha. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and special friends (Mary Whitener, the Ward Family, and the Hunt Family).
