Tom Sweeney

Thomas P. Sweeney, 57, of Davenport, formerly of Sterling, Illinois, died Friday, February 14, 2025 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Private family services will be held with burial in Mt. Thabor Cemetery, Beloit, Wisconsin. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Happy Tails Humane Society in Rock Falls, Illinois or Ridgecrest Village in Tom’s name.

Thomas Patrick Sweeney was born on June 17, 1967 in Beloit, Wisconsin, one of seven sons born to Lawrence E. and Dolores M. (VanRemoortere) Sweeney. He worked for 30 years at CGH Medical Center, Sterling, Illinois in environmental services.

Tom was very creative and loved to draw and color with chalk and pencil art. He enjoyed collecting eagle artwork as well as model cars. Tom was a friend to all and especially enjoyed his time and community at Ridgecrest Village.

Those left to honor his memory are his brothers: Steve (Nydia) Sweeney, Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, Mark (Mary) Sweeney, Grand Rapids, Michigan, Jim (Joan) Sweeney, Davenport, and William (Beth) Sweeney, Rock Falls, Illinois as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Brian and Tim Sweeney. May they rest in peace.
