Bettendorf - Funeral Services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Thomas E. Murray, 77, of Bettendorf, will be 10am Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 4097 18th St, Bettendorf. Burial will be at aproximatly 3:30pm in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Lawler, IA. Visitation will be 4-7pm Tuesday at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 N. Main St, Davenport, and will begin with a prayer service at 4pm. There will be additional visitation from 9am until time of service at the church on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice or the Disabled American Veterans.
Mr. Murray passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, December 21, 2017.
Thomas Edward Murray was born May 23, 1940 in New Hampton, IA, a son of Frank James and Lulu Marie (Bouska) Murray. He was united in marriage to Anne Reissner on June 10, 1978 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
Tom had been a senior bank examiner with Iowa Department of Banking for 35years before he retired to pursue his passion for investing in the American economy.
He was close to his immediate family and friends but he especially enjoyed being the doting grandfather. He was a lifelong boating enthusiast and enjoyed driving his Corvette.
He served in the National Guard for six years.
Survivors include his wife Anne, Bettendorf; daughter Chris (Ed) Parisi, Akron, OH; grandchildren Joseph, James, Joshua, Jacob, Juliana, and John Paul; brothers and sister John W. “Jack” (Gail) Murray, Marshalltown, IA; Mary (Clair) Lensing, Marion, IA; Paul Joseph (Carolyn) Murray, Wagga Wagga, Australia; and Patrick L. Murray, Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
