Thomas Jansen

Thomas “Tom” Jansen, 77, of Rock Island, formerly of Davenport, passed away Friday, September 1, 2023 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am, Monday, September 11, 2023 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home with visitation being held one hour prior to the service.  Memorials may be made to Kings Harvest Pet Rescue No Kill Animal Shelter.  Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. 

Tom was born on June 20, 1946 in Davenport, a son of Harold and Charlotte (Schulte) Jansen.  He graduated from Dowling Catholic High School and went on to earn his Bachelors from St. Ambrose University in 1969 and his Masters from Western Illinois University in 1977.  He had been an educator at the High School and College level for many years.  He enjoyed traveling to St. Louis to visit family and watch the Cardinals.  He also would travel to see his daughter when she lived in Utah and Colorado.  Tom was a coffee connoisseur and enjoyed trying new coffee shops and going out to eat.

Those left to honor his memory include his close and personal friend, Jennifer Oehrlein; children Kelly (Kevin) Hinners, Andrew (Sheila) Jansen, Jeremy Jansen and Brian Jansen; siblings Rudy (Helen) Jansen, Gary (Denise) Jansen, Gregg (Linda) Jansen, Mike (Beth) Jansen and Richard (Mona) Jansen; grandchildren Tyler, Tiffani, Zachary, Joshua, and Noah; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and nephews Adam Jansen, Richie Jansen, Grant Jansen and Paul Jansen.
