Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Theodore E. “Ted” Boone, 91, of Davenport, will be 9:30am on Friday, January 28, 2022, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will follow at National Cemetery, Rock Island. A prayer service will be held at 4pm on Thursday at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, and will immediately be followed by visitation until 6pm. Memorials may be made to a local animal shelter.
Mr. Boone passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022, at Bettendorf Health Care.
Theodore Edward Boone was born December 14, 1930, in Beloit, WI, a son of James and Gertrude (Hicks) Boone. Ted graduated from the former St. Ambrose Academy and then joined the Marine Corps. He was united in marriage to Margaret “Maggie” Lee on May 12, 1956.
Prior to his retirement in 1985 as a warehouse supervisor, he had worked for the Arsenal for over thirty years.
Ted enjoyed fishing, horse racing, and raising rabbits from the time he was a youth. He loved bowling and was active in as many as three leagues at once.
He was a kind, sincere, and soft-spoken man with a loving heart. Throughout his illnesses he faced each new challenge with courage and was an inspiration to his family.
Survivors include his wife of over 65 years Maggie; son-in-law Bruce Baumer, Maysville, IA; grandsons Jeremy (fiancée Jamie Hester) Baumer, Davenport and Steven (Kathleen) Baumer, Onslow, IA; great grandchildren Jeremy Jr and Kaitlynn, Maysville, and Theo of Onslow; sisters Coseta Boone, Palm Springs, CA, and Joyce Karlen, Kona, HI; and brother Denny Boone, South English, IA, and his niece and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Mary Baumer; siblings James, Dick, Gertrude “Kitty” Carlson, Mary Kick and Susan Stafford; and furbaby “Bella”.
The family would like to thank Dr. Kim, Dr. Shay, and everyone at the Hanger Clinic and Wound Center for all the compassionate care they shared with Ted.
