Sylvia J. Dobrich was born on March 18, 1937 in DePue, Illinois, a daughter of John and Mary (Braida) Dobrich. She graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in Education with Summa Cum Laude honors.
Sylvia was united in marriage to Robert Feeney on December 30, 1961 in DePue, Illinois. He preceded her in death on November 28, 1999 after 38 years of marriage.
Mrs. Feeney taught at Butterworth School in Moline, Illinois and worked in Sales for Mid-Central Foods.
She was very active at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish and enjoyed attending Assumption events, volunteering for Meals on Wheels and often helping with funeral luncheons. She was an excellent cook and gardener, and she loved crafting and decorating. A frequent shopper at Goodwill, Sylvia often brought employees homemade baked goods. Sylvia’s strong will was matched only by her acts of service. The warmth of her smile and laugh lifted the spirits of her many friends and family as her giving spirit touched so many.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Sara (John) Brownell, Mark (Susie) Feeney, Kathleen Feeney, and Jennifer (John) Irmen; grandchildren: Molly Bayless, Elizabeth Brownell, Rebecca Brownell, Abigail Brownell, Samuel Feeney, Ellianna Feeney, Nicholas Irmen, Max Irmen, Colin Irmen, Joseph Irmen, Gary Dellisant, Alyzette Dellisant, and Jake Dellisant.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
A special thanks goes out to Bickford of Marion and St. Croix Hospice staff who provided her with such love and care.
