Suzanne A. York

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Suzanne A. York, 77, of Davenport, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.   Visitation will be Monday from 4 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the Columbus Club or Catholic Service Board.

Sue died Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at the Kahl Home surrounded by her family.

Suzanne A. Botosh was born on August 30, 1946 in Davenport, a daughter of Charles and Antoinette M. (Sunier) Botosh.  She graduated from Assumption High School in 1966 and the St. Luke’s Hospital CNA Program.   Sue was united in marriage to Steven P. York on June 21, 1969 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Davenport.  

Sue retired after 46 years of service as a CNA primarily at Genesis East (St. Luke’s) Hospital as well as senior care facilities: Fejervary, Ridgecrest, and Kahl Home.

She enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas, Elvis Presley, and camping, and volunteered man hours at the Knights of Columbus putting on children’s parties and other events.

Those left to honor Sue’s memory are her husband, Steve, Davenport, a brother, Charles Botosh, Cambridge, Massachusetts, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Don (Betty) York, Springfield, Missouri, Terry York, and Gerry York, all of Davenport, a special niece, Stacy York, as well as five nieces and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Mary Botosh.  May they rest in peace.
