Susan K. Smith

Susan Smith, 74, of Buffalo, IA, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024, at OSF St. Francis, Peoria, IL. The family will receive friends from 11am-noon on Friday, December 13, 2024, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Buffalo. Memorials may be made to the family.

Susan Kay Sickels was born December 13, 1949, in Strawberry Point, IA, a daughter of Herbert and Anita (Gray) Sickels. She was united in marriage to Paul J. Kueter in 1967 and he preceded her in death in 1969.

Prior to her retirement, Susan had been a CNA for Royal Neighbors, Davenport.

She was a talented seamstress who made her children’s Halloween costumes and the wedding dress for her daughter Dawn and the prom dress for her stepdaughter Dawn Marie. When she was younger, she enjoyed camping, boating, waterskiing, and horses. Spending time with her family is what she loved most.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters Dawn (Fred) Correa of Colona, IL; son Charles (Rachel) Smith of Davenport; stepdaughter Dawn Marie Kirkpatrick of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren Anthony, Paul, Alex, Abbi, Charlie, Jacob, Samantha, Breanna, Shania, Eyliah, Kyley; great grandchildren Drayden, Lucy, Oliver; sisters Charlotte McMullin of Dubuque, IA, Carol (Mike) Cole of Oelwein, IA; brother Gary Sickels of Oelwein.

In addition to her husband Paul, she was preceded in death by daughter Paula Sue Kueter, and parents.
