Susan Denny

d. April 19, 2021

Beloved wife, mom, sister, aunt, and friend, Susan (“Sue”) M. Denny, passed away, Monday, April 19th in Davenport. Sue was married to her best friend and the love of her life, Harry C. Denny, Jr., for 56 years. Harry and Sue raised their family in Davenport before relocating to Cedar County and eventually back to the Iowa Quad Cities. Sue worked at Ridgecrest Retirement Village for over 25 years.

Sue was a devoted mom, enthusiastic cook, and die-hard Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Bears fan. She was always making cookies, Texas sheet cakes, and toffee for family and friends. Sue and Harry relished their times fishing and enjoying nature, especially at their former homestead along the Cedar River across from Rochester, Iowa. When they were not outdoors enjoying the scenery, they were inseparable, whether spending time enjoying their favorite procedural crime dramas or sharing a tenderloin or other meals at restaurants. Her four-legged child, Taz, as well as her son and his partner’s hounds, will miss endless treats and midnight ice cream with “grandma.”

Recognizing the ongoing pandemic and Sue’s abiding concern for the health and well-being of those around her, a tree planting and celebration of life will be June 6, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the West Rochester Park, West Rochester, Iowa. People wishing to make memorial donations may do so with either Cedar County Conservation or Cedar-Wapsi Pheasants Forever.

Sue’s passing will be intensely felt by all those in her orbit. She is survived by her husband Harry, their children Carolyn and Harry (Courtney Frederick), sister Joyce McDonald (Robert), nephews, nieces, extended family and innumerable friends.
