Steven Peterla

September 29, 1954 — February 9, 2020

Steven M. Peterla, 65, of Davenport, died Sunday, February 9, 2020 at Trinity, Rock Island.  Keeping with his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Steven Mark Peterla was born on September 29, 1954 in Davenport, a son of Frank and Dorothy Peterla.  He was united in marriage to Ann Marie Finkenhoefer on May 26, 1990 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Davenport.

Steve worked as a ticket taker and as security for the Davenport Community School District at Brady Street Stadium.  He also worked in stadium operations at the former John O’Donnell Stadium including clubhouse attendant and scoreboard operator.  Steve had a great passion for local sports teams, especially the Mallards and the River Bandits.

Steve adored his wife, Ann.  He was happiest when she was around.  He enjoyed bowling, his cats, and if he wasn’t watching baseball he’d have a western on the television.   Steve also was a great collector of sports memorabilia.

Survivors include his wife, Ann, Davenport, brother, Jim Peterla; cousin, Patricia Ruby; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Finkenhoefer, Eldridge; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Ann (Dan) Anderson, Eldridge, Tom (Jo) Finkenhoefer, Aurora, Illinois, Steve (Donna) Finkenhoefer, Davenport, Kathy (Dennis) Orcutt, Nevada, Iowa, Rev. Steve Witt, Iowa City, Diane (Tedd) Thomas, LeClaire, Liz (Mike) Kershaw, Aurora, Illinois, and Jim (Patti) Finkenhoefer, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.
