Shirley Martin

Shirley M. Martin, 72, of Bettendorf, died unexpectedly Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at her home.  Private family services will be held with burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport.  Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church.

Shirley Marie Chandler was born on November 30, 1949 in Bloomfield, Iowa, a daughter of Olen and Hazel (Yates) Chandler.  She was united in marriage to Dennis J. Martin on February 7, 1970 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Bloomfield.  He preceded her in death on July 4, 2010 following 40 years of marriage.

Shirley worked for over 15 years at Oscar Mayer before her retirement in 2010.

Shirley had an easy-going personality and enjoyed reading and playing bingo.  She also enjoyed watching NFL football, rooting on the Chicago Bears and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Survivors include her children: Michael Martin, Bettendorf, Michelle (Dan) Martin-Burke, Cordova, Illinois, and Daniel Martin, Davenport; grandchildren: Darren (Summer) Martin, Clinton, Brianne (Ben) Ainsworth-Barber, Port Byron, and James Burke, Cordova; great-grandchildren: Hunter, Jaxon, Tyler, Norah and Quinn; and a sister-in-law, Bo Chandler, Bettendorf.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Don and Doran Chandler.  May they rest in peace.
