Shirley Charlotte Crowley

Shirley Charlotte Crowley, 78, a resident of Bettendorf, died Friday, April 7, 2023 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at church. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Rossi Guest House in Iowa City. Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Shirley was born October 11, 1944 in Ulman, Missouri, the daughter of Ira and Charlotte (Huddleston) Beard. She married John Martin “Marty” Crowley, November 14, 1964. He preceded her in death, November 12, 2017.

Shirley worked as a clerk in housewares at K&K Hardware and for various grocery stores. She enjoyed reading, gardening, watching the birds, and playing cards with her card club friends. She was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa college basketball fan. Shirley loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their various events.

Those left to honor her memory include her children and their spouses, Tim and Karen Crowley of Des Moines, Myra and Matt Mitchell, Philip and Shannon Crowley, and Mark and Tracy Crowley, all of Bettendorf; grandchildren, Christina, J.T., and Joe Crowley, Kal, Carly, and Lauren Mitchell, Cody and Dalton Cale, Henry, Thomas, and Sarah Crowley, Max, Ethan, and Ava Crowley; great-grandchildren, Addie and Phoenix.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and eleven siblings.
