Sherry K. Lindsay, 75, of Bettendorf, died Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at her home. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, is assisting the family with arrangements. There will be no visitation or funeral. A private burial will take place at a later date.
Sherry was born in Muscatine, Iowa on February 24, 1949, to Gerdena and John Dykstra. She married Robert M. Lindsay on June 6, 1970. They were married for 54 years.
She graduated from Northeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She was a teacher in the Bettendorf Community School District for thirteen years before her retirement.
She was a member of PEO Champer LM and a member of Tri-City Garden Club. She had been a former member of the Junior Board of the Quad-City Symphony, the Junior League of the Quad Cities, Questers, Book Club, Quad City Arts, and the Friends Board of the former Davenport Museum of Art and had been a Master Gardner. She enjoyed walking, gardening, and playing mah-jongg.
In addition to her husband, Robert, Sherry is survived by her sisters, Linda (Gary) Neymeyer, Bella Vista, Arkansas, and Marcia (Craig) Miller, Austin, Texas; a sister-in-law, Kathy Dykstra of Rifle, Colorado; and a niece and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and her brother, Stuart.
Memorial donations may be made to the Figge Art Museum or Family Resources Inc, Davenport, Iowa.
