Sharon K. Heesch, 76, of Bettendorf, formerly a longtime resident of Davenport, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Palmer Hills Senior Living, Bettendorf. Visitation will be Monday, December 3, 2018 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 10am the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries All Faith Chapel. Burial will be held in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. Memorials may be made to the Davenport Police Department Canine Unit.
Sharon Kay Toft was born April 27, 1942 in Davenport to Evald V. and E. Ruth (Avery) Toft. She was a 1960 graduate of Durant High School and, while employed as bookkeeper at Wilson Chevrolet in Durant, also attended classes until graduating from Marycrest College in 1971 with a BA in Business Education. She taught at Clinton High School, and West High School in Davenport, as well as Scott Community College.
Sharon was united in marriage to David Edward Heesch on March 29, 1975 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Durant. DPD Captain David Heesch preceded her in death on August 13, 2009.
She enjoyed music and singing with the Sweet Adelines, serving as a member and an officer in the Daughters of the American Revolution, researching genealogy, raising German Shepherds, spending time with family and friends, watching the cardinals outside and completing crosswords and puzzles.
Survivors include her brother, Brian (Darlene) Toft, Davenport; sisters, Barbara (Don) Klaessy, Peoria, Arizona, Judith (Terry) Dell, Camanche and Debra Toft, Bettendorf; brothers-in-law, Roger Heesch, Kingman, Arizona and Craig (Jane) Heesch, Bettendorf; and several nieces and nephews, including Kimberly (Doug) Fee and Kevin (Lisa) Toft, all of Davenport.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
