Sandy also was an avid reader and loved swapping books and spending time with her lifelong friend, Shirley Garrity.

Those left to honor her memory are her children: Steve Garcia, Davenport, Michael (Kim) Garcia, Manhattan, Kansas, Stacey (Barry) Middlemiss, Davenport, Tara (Charles) Heist, Swedona, Illinois; grandchildren: Gage Flockhart, Jordan Garcia, Amy Middlemiss, and Gideon and Oliver Heist; great-grandchildren: Ryker and Tilly Mae (who is on the way) Flockhart; siblings: Shirley Manning, Roger (Patricia) Kester, Sherri (Daniel) Cheatle, and Gregory Kester.
