Funeral Services to celebrate the life of Ruth E. Snyder, 101, a resident of the Kahl Home, Davenport, will be 11:00 am Thursday, January 18, 2018 in the All Faith Chapel at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Delmar, Iowa. The family will greet friends Thursday from 10:00 am until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Snyder died peacefully Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Genesis Medical Center East Campus. She died following a brief illness; her daughter was at her side at the time of her passing.

Ruth Edwards was born March 5, 1916, in Winterset, Iowa, daughter of Jay C. and Bertha (Cole) Edwards.

Ruth was united in marriage to John F. Snyder on January 9, 1943 in San Francisco, California. He preceded her in death November 17, 1992.

She retired in 1976 from the Bettendorf School District. She taught elementary education at Lincoln Elementary for nearly 30 years.

John and Ruth retired to Mtn. Home, Arkansas in 1980. Ruth returned to Bettendorf in 2000.

Ruth was a resident of the Kahl Home following a stroke in 2006. Sincere thanks to the Kahl Home staff for the care and love shown to Ruth.

Memorials can be made to Back Packs for Kids or any charity that benefits children.

Those left to honor her memory include a daughter, Sr. Mary Bea Snyder, CHM, Bettendorf; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John and a brother, Robert Edwards.
