Ruben Gonzalez

Ruben R. Gonzalez, 59, of Davenport, died Saturday, December 26, 2020 at University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City.  Private Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.  The service will be livestreamed by visiting Ruben’s obituary at www.hmdfuneralhome.com. The link, which will appear at the bottom of his obituary, will not be accessible until 1:55 p.m.  Honoring his wishes the rite of cremation has been accorded.  Memorials may be made to his family.

Ruben Ramiro Gonzalez was born December 4, 1961 in Mission, Texas, the son of Raul and Maria (Ramirez) Gonzalez.

Ruben had worked many years for the Davenport School System, as a Para-Educator at Davenport North High School. He had also worked at the HyVee for the last 15 years.  He loved spending time with his family.

Those left to honor his memory include his siblings; Rolando (Maria) Gonzalez, Davenport, Esmeralda “Melly” (Onorio) Pelayo, Edinburg, Texas, Rogelio “Roy” (Myrna) Palacios, Silvis, Illinois and Roque (Yolanda) Martinez, Mission, Texas; many nieces and nephews as well as numerous loving extended family and friends both here and in Mission, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Raul Gonzalez, Jr.
