Davenport

Roy E. Rogers, 76, of Davenport, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025, at The Ivy in Davenport. Cremation has been accorded. A celebration of life to honor Roy will be held at a later date. Details will be shared with family and friends once arrangements are made. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Roy was born on May 30, 1948, in Davenport, the son of Harvey and Bernice (Petersen) Rogers. On June 11, 1970, he married Jacquelyn “Jackie” Sternberg in Davenport in a memorable double wedding alongside Jackie’s sister, Patsy, and her husband, Tim Mosier. Roy was incredibly proud of their 54-year marriage.

He graduated from Davenport Central High School and spent his career as a painter and paper hanger for Union Local 676 until his retirement. Additionally, he served six years in the Army Reserves during the 1970s.

Roy worked with various dirt track racing teams over the years, always enjoying the sights, sounds, and competition at the track. He also loved playing golf with his close friends, never missing a chance to perfect his swing or share a good laugh. Above all, Roy was a proud grandfather, finding great joy in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by Jackie, his wife of over 54 years; daughters Michelle (Jacob) Acri of East Moline and Carolyn (Tony) Meyer of Killeen, TX; grandchildren Amy Berry, Eric (Aurora) Rogers, Gianna Acri, and Maxwell Acri, as well as two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Bud Rogers of Wyoming, Richard (Rita) Rogers of Davenport, and Deanna Bacon of Davenport.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Howard.
