Roy J. Boltz, 71, a resident of Davenport, and the “Mayor of E. 18th St.” passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022, at his home. Per his wish the rite of cremation was accorded.
Roy Junior Boltz was born December 17, 1950, in Baring, Missouri, a son of Roy H. and Mary C. (nee Haffernan) Boltz. He was united in marriage to Willene “Willie” Mohr on September 25, 1971, in Davenport.
Prior to his retirement, he had worked as a fork truck driver for Americold Logistics.
Roy lived life to the fullest and liked to have a good time. He enjoyed fishing and camping on the Yellow River with his wife and sons as well as annual trips with the same group of friends for over thirty years. He also liked to go to the casinos once in a while.
With his full beard and white hair, Roy looked just like Santa Claus, and enjoyed playing the role for the children of his friends and neighbors. He could often be found smoking a cigarette on his front porch and talking with the neighbors as they walked their dogs.

Those left to honor his memory include his beloved wife of 50 years, Willie; sons Reed (Laurie) Boltz of Bettendorf, and Nicholas (Shannon) Boltz of Wheat Ridge, Colorado; grandson Roy Junior Patrick “RJ” Boltz; brother Bill (Debbie) Davenport of Virginia; sister Peggy (Harry) Boetger of Hurdland, Missouri; and numerous brothers in law, sisters in law, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1978 and mother in 2015.
