Rosemary Martens

Rosemary T. Martens, 97, a resident of Rock Island, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at St. Anthony’s Nursing and Rehab, Rock Island surrounded by her family.  Private graveside services were held at Holy Family Cemetery, Davenport  Memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.  Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Rosemary Theresa Gubser was born on June 7, 1921 in Davenport, a daughter of Joseph B. and Frieda (Popp) Gubser.  She was united in marriage to Albert Clarence Martens on February 17, 1941 in Washington, Iowa.  He preceded her in death on November 10, 2005.

Rosemary was a very fun loving, genuinely good person who enjoyed to laugh.  She enjoyed her grandchildren, caring for her pets, camping, and boating.  She had a heart of gold, and was always willing to help those in need.

Among survivors are her children and their spouses: Jerry (Carol) Martens, Milan, Janet “Sue” (David) Wendel, Taylor Ridge, Jack (Carla) Martens, Rock Island; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Ruth Johnson.
