Rose M. Zemanek

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Rose M. Zemanek, 92, of Davenport, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2022 at St. John’s United Methodist, Davenport. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa.  Memorials may be made to the Figge Art Museum or a charity of your choice. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Rose Mary Zemanek was born on June 24, 1930 in Mason City, Iowa, a daughter of Frank and Mary (Szymeczek) Zemanek.  She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in art and later earned her Masters in Fine Arts from Drake University.

Miss Zemanek taught art in the Davenport Community Schools for over 30 years and also taught Sunday School at St. John’s United Methodist.  Prior to teaching, she was a telephone operator for AT&T in Mason City.

Rose enjoyed traveling and has been to every continent except Antarctica.

Survivors include her sister, Marjorie Boelman, nephew, Scott Boelman, all of Placentia, California, and a niece, Rebecca Woods, Pasadena, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother-in-law, Ben Boelman, and cousin Phyllis Murphy.
