Rosalie Irene Waight

Rosalie Irene (Melroy) Waight, 83, a resident of Bettendorf, died Sunday, November 6, 2022 at ProMedica Utica Ridge in Davenport.

Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Thursday at church. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic School in Monticello, Iowa.

Rosalie was born January 2, 1939 in Davenport, the daughter of Thomas Leo and Dorothy Helen (Gillespie) Melroy. She married David Waight, August 1, 1959. He preceded her in death, December 21, 2021.

Rosalie worked as a teacher’s aide for 41 years at Sacred Heart School in Monticello. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. Rosalie was an avid reader and baker. She enjoyed gardening and sewing.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Lora Kaisler, Bettendorf, Janeen (Greg) Jenkins, Phoenix, Arizona, Matthew (Colleen) Waight, Pipersville, Pennsylvania, Dr. David (Gwen) Waight, Peninsula, Ohio, and Joel (Lacy) Waight, Thornton, Colorado; grandchildren, Cameo, Brandon, Hunter, Abagail, Emiko, Emma, Jace, A’Leah, and Thomas; great-grandchildren, Gabe, Dempsey, Charlie, William, and Grayson; siblings, Dona Segura of Bettendorf, John Melroy of Maquoketa, Karen (Michael) Carr of Grapevine, Texas, Michael (Linda) Melroy of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and Greg (Dana) Melroy of Yakima, Washington.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Patrick Melroy.
