Ronald James Stock was born September 25, 1942, in Davenport, the son of Henry John and Rose Angela (Keller) Stock. His father died March 3, 1945, from wounds received in action during World War II and he was raised by his mother, grandmother, and uncle Al.
He graduated from the newly opened Davenport West High School in 1961, its inaugural class.
When he was 15, he was doing homework at his friend Art Jansen’s house and there he met his future wife, Art’s sister, Gloria. Ron and Gloria were united in marriage on October 5, 1963, in Davenport.
Prior to his retirement he had worked in maintenance and as a welder for the Davenport Community School District.
He had a passion for fishing, especially with his grandsons Brent, Ben and Blake, and loved to take them to his favorite spots. He could build and fix anything, often buying cars to repair and then sell. In earlier years he enjoyed bowling and golfing until his knees got bad. He also enjoyed gardening, hunting, and watching movies.
Those left to honor his memory include Gloria, his beloved wife of over 60 years; daughters Christine (Wally) Woods of Davenport, Charlene (Al) Mosher of Walcott; grandchildren Benjamin (Amina) Stock and their children Emunah, Josiah, Micaiah, Isaiah, Ilona; Brent Stock, Blake (Makayla) Stock and their children Levi, Lucy, and Lola; Loni (Nakia Ivy) Stock and their children NaLonna, LaKhia, LaiLoni, NyLah, Lamar, NaLayla, LaMyrah, and Legend; Chrissy (Tristan) Murray and their children Tristine, Tristan, and Tahara; Renae (Jeff) Williams and their children King and Jrissa; Brenna Stock, Brooklynn Mosher, Bayla Mosher, Brystal Mosher, and Brielle Mosher; lifetime friends Tom (Debbie) Kelly, Carl Deem, and Art (Judy) Jansen.
Ron and his family would like to thank and acknowledge his grandson Brent for taking around the clock care of him the past five years. Brent your family, especially your grandfather, are extremely proud of you and cannot thank you enough.
