Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Ronald Lannan, 81, of Davenport, will be held at 10 am on Friday, January 10, 2025, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Thursday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, with a family lead Rosary at 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers due to allergies, memorials may be made to the church.

 

Mr. Lannan passed away Monday, January 6, 2025, at The Ivy, Davenport, due to complications associated with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s Disease. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Ivy staff for the wonderful care and support and a big thank you to Zuri of Heartland Hospice.

 

Ronald Lee Lannan was born August 24, 1943, in Rock Island, the son of Theodore and Mildred (Hoogerwerf) Lannan. He met his future wife, Sara Jane M. Parker, on her first day working at Tri City Fabricating, and on October 1, 1988, they were united in marriage, honeymooning in Hawaii.

 

He was an Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War.

 

Prior to his retirement, he had worked as a warehouse supervisor for McLaughlin Body.

 

In his younger years he was a member of the Corvette Club and owned an orange ’73 Corvette. He also attended the Indy 500 for many years with close friends. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, son and daughter-in-law, and grandson, and cherished their family cruise to Alaska. He was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Ron also volunteered as an usher at St. Alphonsus. 

 

Those left to honor his memory include his wife Sara Jane; son Christopher (Katti) Parker; grandson Hunter; numerous nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews; and the many daycare children and their families who became family.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.
