Rod Conner

Charles Rodney Conner, passed away, Sunday, March 26, 2023 peacefully at his home after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be at 10:30am, Saturday, April 1, 2023 at New Life Baptist, Davenport.  Visitation will be held from 4-7pm, Friday, March 31, 2023 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home.  Additional visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church Saturday.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.  Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.

Rod was born on December 2, 1953 in Galesburg, Illinois, son of Charles and Maxine (Garrettson) Conner.  He was united in marriage to Patricia Bruhn on December 26, 1998.

Rod was a Union member to the core and most recently was a Teamster.  He was a tease and was known by many as Santa Clause during the holiday season or the West End Whistler.  He was a bus driver with the Davenport School System and was always taking care of the kids on his bus.  He loved his animals and always had a house full.  Above all else, he loved his grandchildren and his family and cherished the time he spent with them.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Patricia; children, Shane (Missy) Conner, Amanda (Dave Ratliff) Baker, and Brian (Lea) Russell; father Charles Conner; grandchildren, Jamie (Aysha), Justin, Alex, Hailey, Lilly, Jesse, Braeden, William and Nathaniel; great grandchildren Ezra and Ethan; siblings, Ronda (Roy) Arey, Robert (Vickie) Conner, Dan Conner, Bruce Conner and Shawn (Cindy) Conner; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother.
