Robert J. “Bob” Manley, 62, a lifelong resident of Davenport, passed away unexpectedly on August 29, 2022, at his home. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, is assisting the family.
Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 2618 Boies Ave, Davenport. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 9am until time of service at the church. Memorials may be made to the church.
Bob was born on August 17, 1960, in Davenport, a son of Donald “Gus” and Gerry (Kerkhoven) Manley. Bob worked hard all his life, starting with delivering papers for the Quad City Times, and later washing cars and pumping gas. He had also worked at Oscar Mayer, Blackhawk Foundry, and offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. He retired on August 1, 2022, from Sivyer Steel after 34 years of service.
He loved his work, fishing with friends and family, and rooting for the Chicago Cubs and Bears. He especially enjoyed visiting his favorite watering hole, the Wooden Nickel – please save a stool and raise a toast to Bob.
Survivors include his mother, Gerry; brothers Don (Karen) Manley, Paul (Kristi) Manley, Larry (Tracy) Manley, John Manley, Greg (Tina) Manley, all of Davenport, Brian Manley, Nashville, TN, Matt (Deb) Manley, Richfield, MN; sisters Karen (Steve) Wolfe, LeClaire, Mary (Dave) Eshelman, Ellen Jackson, all of Bettendorf, Therese Kuriger, Blue Grass; brother-in-law Dennis Clark, Muscatine; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, sister Jo Anne Clark, brother-in-law Keith Kuriger, and nephews Nate Wolfe and Logan Manley.
