Funeral services celebrating the life of Robert “Bob” Laster, 69, of Davenport, will be held at Noon on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation will be from 10am until time of services at the funeral home. The rite of cremation will be accorded following services. Memorials may be made to the family.
Mr. Laster passed away Monday, September 9, 2024, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, following a brief battle with cancer.
Robert Steven Laster was born February 27, 1955, in Davenport, a son of Hubert “Hob” and Mariana “Mary” (Mulroy) Laster. He graduated from Davenport West, class of 1973. He was united in marriage to Carole Walton on May 20, 1994, in Davenport.
Bob worked in the car business most of his life and had been a mechanic, service advisor, and body shop estimator for several businesses over the years including the former Lujack Auto Plaza in Davenport and most recently at Todd’s Body Shop in Plainfield, IL.
He liked watching sports and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Minnesota Vikings, St. Louis Cardinals, NASCAR, and drag racing. In his earlier years he drove and raced in his 1964 Chevelle.
Everyone is encouraged to wear their favorite teams attire but no Cubs, Bears, or Packers!
Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 30 years Carole; children Julie (Mike) Joiner, Christopher Fessenden all of Davenport, Amanda (Chris) Baxa of Compton, IL, Sara Fessenden of Davenport; grandchildren Devin (Lexi), Dillon, Kailynn (Jake), Hannah, Madison (Jesse), Carter (Delaney), Alexis, Brooklyn, Harper; great grandchildren Lia, Lily, Ryder, Blaise; sister Linda Miller of Canton, GA; and eleven nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Madison Baxa, parents, and brother Joe.
