Funeral service and Mass of Christian Burial for Robert A. “Bob” Kratt, 96, of Davenport, formerly of Bettendorf, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 19, 2021 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Davenport. The Mass will be livestreamed by visiting www.facebook.com/stpauldisciples . Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation will be Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass Friday in the gathering space at church. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Bob passed away peacefully February 14, 2021 at Senior Star Senior Living, Davenport.
He was an active leader on all levels of the Credit Union movement for over 45 years retiring in January 1987 from I.H. Farmall Credit Union.
Robert Arthur Kratt was born in Hancock, Michigan on November 1, 1924, a son of Arthur and Margaret (Finnegan) Kratt. His professional career began when he joined IH Farmall Credit Union in 1942 following his graduation from St. Ambrose Academy in Davenport, Iowa.
After serving in U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre during WWII, he graduated from St. Ambrose College in 1951 with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth “Betty” Schmitt on February 3, 1951 at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport.
Following his discharge, Bob returned to IH Farmall Credit Union as Chief Executive Officer in 1953. He was a National Director of CUNA Mutual, Madison, Wisconsin, a director with ILCU League, a director with National CU Management Association and on the Board of directors of Electronic Data Systems, Dallas, Texas, and C.U.M.I.S. Ins. Bob was also an active member of the Optimist and Knights of Columbus.
Robert was happy to play golf around the world and was proud of his two holes-in-one. He was also a die-hard Cubs fan since 1932.
He was a proud husband, father, and grandfather to his wife of over 70 years, Betty; 5 children: Claresa (Randy) Pruitt, John (Barb) Kratt, Barbara “B.J.” (Kevin) Johannsen, Susan (Bill) Katzfey, and Katherine (Tim) Jackman; ten grandchildren, and twenty-one great-grandchildren, and a brother, Michael Kratt.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, a great-grandchild, and two sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Assumption High School, or a charity of your choice.
