Funeral services to celebrate the life of Rob Stiles, 61, of Bettendorf, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation will be held Monday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation rites will take place following services.
Rob passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at Trinity, Bettendorf.
Robin Joel Stiles was born on September 29, 1962 in Davenport, a son of Priscilla (Stoefen) and Richard “Pee Wee” Stiles. He graduated from Central DeWitt High School in 1981 and attended Black Hawk College and later earned a degree in psychology from St. Ambrose University. Rob was united in marriage to Susan Willits on January 2, 1985 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa.
Rob worked as a sales representative in the Quad Cities and had most recently worked in the accounts payable department of LMT Defense in Eldridge.
Rob cherished his family. He would never miss a chance to support his girls or grandchildren at an activity or sporting event. There is no doubt that Rob’s presence will be missed on the sidelines. He had a special relationship with his granddaughter, Kailin, who he helped raise; they had a special bond over their love of music and soccer.
Rob was passionate about the game of soccer and was a diehard Liverpool fan. He coached his daughters and grandchildren, as well as refereed for 25 years on the local soccer scene. Rob helped found the Quad Cities United Soccer Club as well as the woman’s soccer program at Alleman in 1999. He also served on the board of Moline Soccer Club in the late 90’s and he coached his grandchildren at Bettendorf Soccer Club in later years. Kids brought out the best in Rob and he truly enjoyed sharing the game he loved with others.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Susan, daughters: Sarah (Patrick) Dusenberry, and Kate Stiles, all of Bettendorf; grandchildren: Bridgette, Kailin, Sadie, Aaron, and Susie; mother and stepfather, Priscilla (Robert) Bockenfeld, Bettendorf; stepmother, Kathy Stiles, Davenport; sisters: Kathy (Scott) Heth, Davenport, and Kelly (Laura) Stiles-Bongiorno, San Francisco; a stepbrother whom he had a special relationship, Corey “Joe” Nolin and stepsiblings: Scott, Todd, and Theresa; nephews and nieces: Zack, Ben, Luke, Nick, Sophie, and Lilian.
Rob was preceded in death by his father, Pee Wee and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Darlene and Don Willits.
Memorials may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) to honor Rob’s 52 years as a Type 1 diabetic.
