Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Rita M. Hagner, 91, of Davenport, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home with a prayer service offered at 6:30 p.m. There will be additional visitation Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass in the gathering space at church. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Victory Foundation or the Congregation of the Sisters of Humility. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Rita died peacefully, Thursday, March 27, 2025 at the Kahl Home in Davenport.
Rita Marie Fulli was born on August 24, 1933 in Davenport, a daughter of Charles A. and Teresa M. (Canora) Fulli. She graduated from Marycrest College with degrees in Spanish and English. She was united in marriage to Patrick A. Hagner. He preceded her in death on January 17, 2012.
Rita began her career in secondary education in Ottumwa, Iowa and Western Iowa before moving to Davenport and teaching thirty years in the Davenport Community School District and one year at John F. Kennedy Catholic School before her retirement.
Rita was deeply devoted to her faith and was a longtime member of Our Lady of Victory Parish and their liturgy commission as well as part of the Davenport Area Retired School Personnel Association (DARSPA)
Those left to honor her memory are her son, Dr. Anthony (Cheri Reeder) Hagner, Encinitas, California; grandchildren: Nickie (Matt) Comella and Candace (Kyle) Guertsen, all of Davenport; great-grandchildren: Jonathan, Alexis, and Korbin; and a sister, Silia Smiley, Davenport.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Charles Hagner, her parents, and siblings, Rose Gravino and Carl and Sante in infancy. May they rest in peace.
