Richard "Dick" Cook

Richard L. “Dick” Cook, 89, of Davenport, passed away Friday, November 09, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Davenport.

Per his request the rite of cremation will be accorded.  Graveside services will be 10:30am on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal, with military honors.  Those wishing to attend should meet by 10am at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main St, Davenport.

Richard Leslie Cook was born May 8, 1929 in Davenport, the eldest of six children born to Fred A. and Madeline (Oliver) Cook.  He was united in marriage to Geraldine Ellison in 1968.  She preceded him in death.

He served our country in the Army during the Korean War.  Following his honorable discharge he became a truck driver and drove for several companies over the years.

Dick loved fishing, camping, and traveling.

Those left to honor his memory include sister in law Mary Ann (James) Cook; brother in law Robert (Karen) Tappendorf; numerous nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife Geraldine, he was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Sally Kone, Madeline Tappendorf, and Helen LeSterk; and brothers Fred A. Cook and James D. Cook.  May they rest in peace.

Dick’s family would like to give a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Good Samaritan, especially his hospice nurse Stephanie, for their care and compassion.
