He graduated from Clinton High School in 1969 and Diablo Valley College, Concord, California in 1973. He was united in marriage to Rosalie Ostert on December 22, 1973. Dick was always pursuing a new hobby or adventure including water and snow skiing, hunting, trapshooting, sport kite competitions, remote battery powered boat racing, wood carving, scanning the skies with his telescope, and traveling.
