Richard A. “Rich” Petkunas, 76, a resident of Bettendorf, died Friday, September 9, 2022 at Genesis Medical Center, East Rusholme in Davenport.

Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. A Prayer Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 13th followed by visitation from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport. An additional visitation will be held 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at church. Memorials may be made to St. John Vianney or the Humane Society of Scott County.

Rich was born May 1, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Anthony Peter and Myrtle (Hudgens) Petkunas. He married Judith McNamara, Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 1966.

Rich worked for Deere Harvester, East Moline for 30 years and was a proud union member. He enjoyed fishing on the Meade Pond in Cosgrove, Iowa, hunting, listening to 50s and 60s music, target shooting, and gardening, always keeping an immaculate lawn. Rich loved working on cars; watching documentaries of World War II, often with his favorite lap cats, Lucky-Girl and Squirt.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Judy; son, Thomas (Beth) Petkunas of Davenport; grandchildren, Samantha (Chris) Vrba, Alexis Petkunas, and Anthony Petkunas; a great-grandchild on the way; step-grandchildren, Victoria, Nathan, and Allison; step-great-grandchildren, Naomi, Davina, Wade, and Jameson; siblings, Phyllis (Bernard) Marten and Gerald “Jerry” Petkunas, both of Bettendorf; nieces, Pamela (Steve) Way and Judith (Lantz) Ewing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Anthony Paul Petkunas; and sister, Patricia Petkunas.
