Richard Patrick McBride

Richard Patrick McBride, 72, of Davenport, passed away, on Friday, October 11, 2024, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. 

 Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Monday, October 14, 2024, at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home. Private family burial will occur in the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal.

 Richard was born on November 20, 1951, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Richard and Hazel (Looney) McBride. He was united in marriage to Constance Moreno in 1978.

 Richard,“St. Rick”, graduated from Davenport Central in 1970, following his graduation he was drafted into the US Army and proudly served his country. He was known for his kindness, patience, and positive attitude. He made time to listen and help anyone in need. He cherished time traveling and cooking with his family. He created lasting memories by taking his children and “the cousins” on long walks and hikes, teaching them to appreciate nature and all animals. Especially squirrels. He made friends everywhere he went and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Above all, he loved his children. He will be deeply missed. 

 Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Connie; children Carmela (Chad) McBride Hollenbeck, Brendan (Mary) McBride, and Joanna (Garrett) Connors; grandchildren Leslie, Richard, Kellen, Jack, Reed, Reese; and siblings Maureen (William) Miller, Marianne McBride and Michael McBride.

 He was preceded in death by his parents.

 The family would like to give a special thanks to the VA for their care and support during the hospital stays, rehab, and at-home care.
