Richard Walter Gruhl, 81, of Bettendorf, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity of your choice.
Richard was born on June 7, 1943 in Davenport, the son of Paul and Bertha (Shellenberg) Gruhl. He was united in marriage to Audrey McClure on December 9, 1967.
Richard’s main priority in life was his family. He was a generous man and gave back to his community by volunteering his time. For many years he was an EMS volunteer, he coached his sons baseball teams, was a Pleasant Valley school board member, and belonged to the LeClaire American Legion. Later in life he enjoyed traveling with his wife, and he volunteered at the Buffalo Bill Museum.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Audrey Gruhl; sons Wade, Bradley (Becky), and Eric Gruhl; siblings Delores (Tom) McKernie, Garden Grove, CA; Marilou Bivens, Marshalltown IA; Bonnie (Ken) Petersen, Brigham City, UT.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Joann Randolph, Carolyn Heath; and his brothers Lee Meyer, Albert Gruhl, and Charles Gruhl.
