Richard Finken

A Mass of Christian Burial for Richard J. “Rick” Finken, 62, of Davenport, will be 11a.m. Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Davenport.  Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the Mass at church.  Memorials may be made to the family.  With remarkable courage and a heart of gold, Rick leaned into his strong faith, proclaimed his love for everyone and passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City surrounded by his family and friends.

Richard John Finken was born October 2, 1955 in Harlan, Iowa, the son of Howard J. and Mary Ellen (Ryan) Finken.  He was united in marriage to Pamela M. Buttry on July 19, 1997 at St. Ann’s in Long Grove.

Rick had worked in the home improvement business for over 35 years for Pacesetters, Acri Company, and Select Home Improvement before beginning a career at Lujack’s as a buyer and sales consultant. Rick’s outgoing, friendly, and generous spirit made him a lifelong friend of many and a remarkable husband, father, papa, and brother.

He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and the Fighting Irish; loved to barbecue for the family, shoot pool, and play golf.

Survivors include his wife, children, Jason (Nikky) Anderson, Jessica (Ryan Shoop) Anderson, all of Davenport, Kyle Finken, San Antonio, Texas, McKenzie (Derek Hamilton) Anderson, Davenport, and T.J. Wheeler, California; grandchildren: Cainin, Riley, Jacob, Jeremy, Jaren, Aryana, Kayliana, and Kyren; siblings: Linda (Dave) Shanahan, Omaha, Jim Finken, Kansas City, Kansas, Ellen (Mark) Greenway, Canby, Minnesota, Bill Finken, Davenport, John (Lori) Finken, Kansas City, Missouri, and Nancy (Tom) Ernst, Lincoln, Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Bob, Jeanne, Carol, and Pat.  May they rest in peace.
