Richard Edens

Funeral Services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Richard D. “Dick” Edens, 84, a resident of Davenport will be 10:00 am Saturday, January 13, 2018, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 417 Main Street, Davenport. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will greet friends Friday, January 12, 2018 from 3:00 until 6:00 pm at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport.

Dick died Sunday, January, 7, 2018, at Genesis Medical Center East Rusholme Street, Davenport. He was surrounded by family and died due to complications from an automobile accident on November 27, 2017.

Richard Dean Edens was born April 13, 1933 in Iowa City, Iowa a son, of Roy and Pauline (Gernandt) Edens. He was proud to have served our country in the US Army during the Korean War.

He was united in marriage to Joan E. Cinadr on February 11, 1956 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Davenport. They were blessed with over 61-years of marriage.

He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 91, Rock Island. He retired from Quality Heating..

Dick enjoyed spending time with family and traveling with his beloved wife Joan. He was a member of both St. Anthony’s and Holy Family Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the family.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Joan, a daughter, Judith (Nick) Sorensen, Davenport, sons, Derek Edens (Diana McCreesh Pryor), Louisiana, and David (Karen) Edens, Rochester, Minnesota; ten grandchildren, one great granddaughter, a sister, Janet (Dick) Kluger, Bettendorf, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Carolyn Tofannelli.
