A Memorial service to celebrate the life of Ray Pilcher, 70, of Davenport, will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2024 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be Thursday from 10 until 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family. Ray died unexpectedly Wednesday, May 8, 2024.
Raymond Allen Pilcher was born on December 14, 1953 in Davenport, a son of James W. and Dolores (Bertsch) Pilcher. He graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1971. He was married to Becky Lacey from May 12, 1979 to February 1998 during which time they welcomed two daughters.
Ray retired in 2004 after 24 years at Case IH with the UAW Local 1304. Following his retirement, he spent a number of years driving a school bus for the Davenport Community School District and enjoyed building relationships with the kids and making them laugh.
Ray enjoyed tinkering with electronics, he would take things apart and could fix and build just about anything. He was a huge fan of music and found his love in dancing and singing like Elvis and could also do a mean Ric Flair impersonation. He had a boisterous personality that announced his arrival when he entered the room. His goal was always to make someone laugh or at least get to use the word “Dork” at least once in the conversation.
Those left to honor his memory are his daughters and sons-in-laws, Heather (Josh) Stocking, Bettendorf, and Lindsey (Auggi) Jimenez, Davenport; grandchildren: Mia, Roman, Vivian, Auggi, Milli, Leyla, Mariella, Evey, Becca, Sofia, and a baby boy on the way. He is also survived by his siblings, Jacquie (Evan) Asby, Carol (Ron) Rothert, Dolly (Duane) Chally, Wally (Gan) Pilcher and Timm (KT) Pilcher as well as numerous nieces and nephews as well as his former wife, Becky Pilcher.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
