Paula Campione November 27, 1954 - January 22, 2023

Paula Campione, age 68, of Detroit, MI, passed away and went to a better place on Sunday, January 22nd, 2023, leaving behind a 30-year old Snake plant named Baby, dozens of her beautiful and meticulously hand-painted ceramic creations, and one eternally cranky cat of an unknown age.

Paula is survived by her daughter Jessica, who is the best happy accident she ever had (a fact Paula gladly accepted as truth during their 26 years of living together). Those also left to honor her memory include… “The Michigan cousins” Sarah Graves and Chantell Graves, “The Arizona cousins” Jerry (Jean) Alongi, Pete (Judy) Alongi, “The Tennessee (formerly Arizona) cousins” Alex “Jr.” (Karen) Alongi, Cheryl Alongi and Cayla Bruner, “The California cousins” Kathy (Ram) Chillar, Joe (Marisa) Core, Mark (Beth) Cucchiara and Sharon (George) Friedrichs, and “Her Son from another Mother” Grant Swanson.

She is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Mary (nee Cucchiara) Campione, grandmother Catherine Cucchiara, uncle Moe, aunt Grace, aunt Tina, and her cat, Daisy. May they rest in peace.

Paula graduated from Denby High School, went on to complete her Associates degree in business school, then entered the workforce. She retired from her position as a Human Resources leader with the US Army TACOM (Tank-automotive and Armaments Command) after 30 years of service.

She was a member of the St. John Vianney Parish and served on the parish communion team. She was devoted to her faith.

Paula enjoyed many, many things. Among those things were: a Venti Hazelnut Latte from Starbucks, cooking family recipes from scratch, flexing her green thumb on her thriving house plants, crocheting beautiful scarves and blankets, aerobic swim class at the YMCA, Scrabble matches (even if Jess won 9/10 times), traveling to new places often as possible, playing Candy Crush and other highly addictive phone games, attending her TACOM “Lunch Bunch” outings, painting ceramics on Thursdays at Susie’s, watching a competition TV show or a cheesy movie, sharing memories and photos from good times past, driving Pearl (her shiny new Ford Fusion equipped with ALL the add-ons), spending time with her cats Daisy and Snickers, and above all, her family.

She was a sweet, loving, forgiving, compassionate and kind person who left a “forever” impact on everyone lucky enough to call her a friend or family. She will be greatly missed.

While no funeral service is currently scheduled, a private celebration of life will take place at a future date.
