Paul Wayne McGivern, 78, of Davenport, passed away, Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Genesis East Medical Center.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-4 PM, Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport. Per his wishes, the rite of cremation will be accorded following the visitation. Memorials may be made to the family for various Veteran organizations.
Paul was born on July 23, 1941, in Moline, the son of Parlan Leo and Nancy Pearl (MacDonald) McGivern. He was united in marriage to, his high school sweetheart, Judith “Judy” DeMuth, on February 9, 1963.
Paul served his country in the United States Navy from 1961-1965 aboard the USS Osborne and the USS Vammen.
Paul owned and operated Climatronics Heating and Air Conditioning for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, antique cars, building motorcycles, tinkering, and was known for his stories, jokes, and living life to the fullest. He loved anything Irish, and was a member of the St. Patrick’s Society. He also loved traveling to Ireland and the many adventures with Judy, family, and friends. He was a member of the First Iowa Division of NARCOA railway club, and volunteer at the QCCA, but above all he cherished the time spent with his family and grandchildren.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 56 years, Judy; children, Steve McGivern, Davenport, IA, and Kelly (Mike) Row, Eldridge, IA; grandchildren, Sophie and Jimmie Row, and Missy McGivern; many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Fran, and brothers Jack, Leo and Duncan.
