Patrick James Connelly

Patrick James Connelly, 54 of Davenport, passed away, Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus. 

Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Holy Family Catholic Church.  A visitation will be held on Monday, January 1, 2024 from 2:00-4:00 pm at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home.  Memorials may be made to his family to be used for his children’s education. 

Patrick was born on February 20, 1969 in Davenport, son of William and Marsha (Lamb) Connelly.

He graduated from Assumption High School and later graduated from St. Nobert College with his Bachelor’s degree in English.  He then went on to receive his Masters in English from NE Missouri State University and later his PhD in English from Indiana University of Pennsylvania

A professor in the department of English, Patrick taught composition and literature for 30 years at St. Ambrose University. He served terms as Department Chair and was in charge of the writing curriculum. He tutored ESL students and had the joy of teaching and researching abroad in Ecuador and Ireland. He touched many lives.

Those left to honor his memory include his children Liam Connelly, Bianca Connelly, and Eila Connelly; mother Marsha Connelly; siblings Tim (Lorrie) Connelly, Ann (Mark)Tighe, Shawn (Heather) Connelly, and Sheila (Nathan) Schofer; and nieces and nephews Danny (Alexandra) Connelly, Megan Connelly, Elleson Connelly, and Brooks Connelly.

He was preceded in death by his father William D. Connelly.
