Patricia “Pat” Van De Sampel, 84, of Milan, died Friday, February 16, 2024 at her home surrounded by family.

 

A celebration of Pat’s life will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 1 until 4 p.m. at the Milan American Legion Hall, 515 1st Ave W, Milan, IL 61264.  Keeping with her wishes, cremation rites have taken place.   Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

 

Patricia Ann Smith was born on August 8, 1939 in Davenport, a daughter of Mearl and Iva (Carothers) Smith.  She married John Fleischman on October 22, 1961 in Davenport and later married Charles Van De Sampel on January 18, 1991 in Florence, Arizona.  He preceded her in death on November 29, 2016.  

 

Pat worked in hospitality most of her adult life.   She was a life member of Post 828-Auxilary of VFW, and an auxiliary member of the Milan American Legion and Moose Lodge of Rock Island.  Pat loved and adored her family and enjoyed a variety of music.

 

Those left to honor her memory are her daughters, Shelly (Bob) Payne, Rock Island, Jody Fleischman, Milan, and Judy (Terry Gibbs) Fleischman, Davenport; eight grandchildren, twelve, great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

 

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Kelly Fleischman and Jerry Blanford, her parents, and siblings: Al Tucker, Delores Rankin, Jackie Peterschmidt, and Christy Wilson.
