Patricia “Patty” Ann O’Brien, 75, of Davenport, passed away, Thursday, July 7, 2022 at her home.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home. Cremation rites have been accorded. Private burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to McAnthony’s Window or to the Handicapped Development Center.
Patty was born on November 6, 1946 in Davenport, daughter of Otto and Lula (King) Stolley. She was united in marriage to John “Mike” O’Brien on February 26, 1966. He preceded her in death on October 27, 2001.
Patty was proud to have been the first female store manager for Walgreens in the state of Iowa, later becoming a pharmacy technician. She was a mentor to many past and now current store managers. She enjoyed spending her time watching Hawkeye football, basketball, reading and was known for her love of plain M&M’s. During her younger years she was second mom providing a second home to her sons’ teenage friends. She was very generous with her love and would help those in need even if it meant she would go without. Patty also enjoyed her weekly lunch outings with her sisters. Above all, Patty, loved her grandchildren and her god grandson, Evan. She would play cards, games or watch silly shows with them for hours and she cherished every moment.
Those left to honor her memory include, children John Thomas (Jolene) O’Brien and Andrew (Melanie) O’Brien; grandchildren, Gunnar, Finley and Kiara; and siblings John “Jack” (Sandy) Stolley, Gary Stolley, Linda (Roger) Warren, Christine McMahon and Debra (Dave) McClanahan.
She was preceded in death by her husband Mike, son David, and siblings Muriel Arnold, Jackie Stolley, Mary Wilson and Ed Stolley.
